It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to paddle your way through a 10,000 year old mangrove forest seeing dolphins along the way and kayaing up close to shipwrecks, relics of a bygone era. It’s a special experience that simply can’t be replicated, which is why Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak Tours is a must-do!

Our guides are marine biologists who have experience and knowledge of working with marine mammals and wildlife. Participants don’t need any prior kayaking experience, and we travel at a comfortable pace to accommodate reasonable fitness levels.

We hope to see you paddling with us in the Sanctuary soon!

Stop At: Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary, 66 Commercial Rd, Port Adelaide, South Australia 5015 Australia

The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is the hub of marine adventure. We take you on a guided tour through some of SA’s most beautiful waters, enabling you to get up close and personal with one of the oceans most playful and friendly creatures.

In the marine park, visitors have the opportunity to kayak amongst more than 30 resident bottlenose dolphins, and 300 other dolphin visitors that consistently come and go. We also paddle through beautiful mangrove creeks that have been there for over 10,000 years and past shipwrecks of a bygone era.

Alex, was a great guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see a few dolphins and going through the mangroves was awesome!

One of the best tours I've done! Friendly and knowledgeable tour leader and a great time on the water. Highly recommend joining the tour for a paddle. I was a little worried about the length of time on the kayak, and how tiring it may be, but it was quite easy and a laid back pace. One thing to note, the tours take place in a 2 person kayak, so if you're going solo you'll be paired up with someone for the day.

Our guide shared his knowledge of dolphins and their environment with us as we kyacked our way around the sanctuary. We had never kayaked before, so it was a great way to learn. We really enjoyed the stillness of the glide through the mangroves.

Our tour guide Noah was amazing at telling us details about the ship wreak and the mangroves. When asked a question he was able to answer in heaps of detail. We saw a mother and calf dolphin who was doing tricks, who got quite close to us. Love the experience and would recommend it to anyone coming to Adelaide.

The conditions and day were beautiful but as for dolphins, I doubt many are ever seen here. While just starting, the guides call out "There's some, 150 metres over there." End of story. Beautiful water and mangroves with industrialised backgrounds unfortunately. Shipwrecks? No, just rusting hulks dumped in a time when that sort of thing was allowed. Sort of ok as the day was a cracker but don't expect dolphins.

An enjoyable kayak along the mangroves. It may be a dolphin sanctuary but we saw no sign of dolphins. Limited wildlife in industrial area with poor water quality. Dumped old ships, not shipwrecks.
